Templates: Add/Edit Templates Part IIa - e-Appeal Templates
- In addition to the basic template configurations/set-up options (please see Add/Edit Templates Part I tutorial for basic information on creating templates), e-Appeal templates have a few additional considerations.
- The e-Appeal templates are narrower than other templates, as they are mobile optimized.
- The e-Appeal templates have one additional widget that can be added: Ask Array.
- The Ask Array widget populates the ask amounts that will be presented to your donor in the email they receive. The donation amounts will be populated from the ask array associated to the fund you select when configuring your e-Appeal. See the Configure e-Appeal tutorials in the Appeals section of the support library for more information on configuring and selecting the ask amounts. When configuring your template, all you need to do is drop in the ask array widget. There are no further configurations to do here to make the widget work/the ask amounts are not configured here (you can configure the look of the widget, however).
- When editing the Ask Array widget, there are three sections/sets of configurations:
- Item Properties controls the look of the ask amount buttons. Here, we have changed the buttons from green to blue by changing the background color in the item properties section.
- Item Text Properties controls the text on the ask amount buttons.
- Section Properties controls the entire Ask Array Widget, including the background color and interior margin/padding. Here, we have changed the entire widget's background from transparent to yellow by changing the background color setting in the section properties.
- Item Properties controls the look of the ask amount buttons. Here, we have changed the buttons from green to blue by changing the background color in the item properties section.
- As with all templates, there is an array of placeholders that can be dropped into the template to personalize the email that your recipients receive.
- As with all templates, if you use the Informal Household Salutation or the Formal Household Salutation field in the template, and the contact is not part of a household, then the system will substitute the appropriate/similar Individual Salutation automatically. If you have a group of mixed recipients - some in households and some who are not - we recommend using one of the Household salutation fields by default.
- In test emails, placeholders will not populate with real data. In a test email, the ask array will have the words "Sample Ask Array" in red beneath the ask amounts to show that it's just a placeholder/not the real ask array.
- Changes in templates are autosaved but it doesn't hurt to click save after making changes.
