FAQ: Edited And Sent a Communication Batch. Why Are My Changes To The Template Did Not Save in Template?
There are multiple places from where you can edit a template before sending a communication batch. However, those changes will not save in your original template because the changes were made after the batch was generated. So, those changes will remain specific for that batch only.
Lets find out how to avoid this so that the changes that you are making get saved to original template for future use.
- To send an E-Blast, go to Communication> Create New Communications. Here you will see all the templates that you have created under My Templates.
- Hover over the template you want to use as your starting point and select Edit to edit the existing base template or Copy to make a copy of the template that you can then edit.
- Some templates will not provide the Copy option; instead, for these templates, select Use and then on the next screen, select Save as Template, which functions similar to “save as” and makes a copy of the template that you can then edit.
- Note: If you directly click on Go To Next Step, it will generate/create a batch. Any changes you make after clicking Go to Next Step, will remain specific for that batch. The changes will not save to original/existing template and you will not be able to use the sent template for future communications. So always edit the template and once you are finished with the changes then click Go to Next Step. However, if your changes are only specific to one time then you can click Go to Next Step and make the changes to the template.
- Once you have selected Copy or Edit (or Use and Save as Template) and are on the edit template screen, configure your master template layout.
- Click the pencil (edit icon) next to the template name in the upper left-hand corner to give your template a name. Type in a name for your template and then click Save.
- To learn more about editing and formatting template, please read this tutorial: Templates: Add/Edit Templates Part I - Create Basic Template.
- When you have finished making changes to your template, click the Save button in the bottom right. The system does also auto-save every three minutes.
- Always follow the above steps to save your template (changes to your template) before generating a batch.
