To configure, courses, course types, departments and schools, the admin can click the Main Menu and select System Configurations.
Schools
“Schools”, also referred to as “Colleges”, are divisions within the university comprising one subject area
or a number of related subject areas. A school category can be specified when configuring Departments.
1. From the Main Menu, click System Configurations.
2. Click Schools.
3. To add a new school: Type its name in the “Name” field, then click Add.
4. To edit a school’s name: Click Edit. Make the desired change, then click Save.
5. To inactivate a school: Uncheck the active status, then click OK.
6. To delete a school: Click Delete in its dropdown menu, then click OK.
Departments
“Departments” are divisions of a school devoted to a particular academic discipline.
1. From the Main Menu, click System Configurations.
2. Click Departments.
3. To add a new department: Type its name in the “Name” field, its code in the "Code" field, and you may select the school and program it belongs to. Click Add.
Note: The department code is helpful when using the Import Utility. When importing courses, either the department name or code can be used to pull up the department.
4. To edit a department: Click Edit. Make the desired change, then click Save.
5. To inactivate a department: Uncheck the active status, then click OK.
6. To delete a department: Click Delete in its dropdown menu, then click OK.
Course Types
“Course Types” allow the university and participant to filter courses and opportunities. When participants register online, they will be able to filter the courses by course type. They will also be able to filter opportunities by course type. On the other hand, universities will be able to report using course type as a filter.
1. From the Main Menu, click System Configurations.
2. Click Course Type.
3. To add a new course type: Enter the course name on the name field. Set the status to active or inactive then click Add.
4. To edit a course type: Click Edit. Make the desired change, then click Save.
5. To inactivate a course type: Uncheck the active status, then click OK.
6. To delete a course type: Click Delete in its dropdown menu, then click OK.
Courses
“Courses” are normally individual subjects and are led by one or more instructors. A department must
be selected when configuring courses.
1. From the Main Menu, click System Configurations.
2. Click Courses.
3. To add a new course: Click Add New Course. Enter the course name, number, date range and
description, then select the department, faculty and any associated organization. Click Save.
4. To edit a course: Click Edit. Make the desired change, then click Save.
5. To archive a course: Uncheck the active status, then click OK.
6. To delete a course: Click Delete in its dropdown menu, then click OK.
Note:
- Courses can be pulled into a report as well.
- Inactive courses are not displayed on any course selection.
