e-Appeals: Create New Appeal Part V: Receive Donations/The Donor's Process
- The e-Appeals module provides donors with a slimmed down donation process that lets them quickly and easily make a donation online without filling out a lot of information and which is optimized for mobile screens.
- Because the email is sent from your CRM, the system can identify the donor from the information inside of CRM and won't ask the donor for information already on file (such as name and address).
- The donor simply needs to select their donation amount and fill in their credit card information (if it is not already on file).
- When a donor selects to make a donation they are sent to a special online portal that only asks for information not already on file. THIS PORTAL PAGE IS NOT CUSTOMIZABLE. Your organization's logo will show on the page, but otherwise, the text and colors are standard/the same for all clients and cannot be customized.
- The e-Appeals module online portal does not replace your website donation options (via Plugins or Pages). You will still want to have a "donate now"/"support us" option on your website to collect donations from website visitors and those not already in your database.
- The process/flow for the donor making a donation via the e-Appeals module looks like this:
- Donor receives your email (with content customized by you/from your e-Appeals template.
- Donor selects one of the appeals amount presented (based on your Ask Array associated to the Fund you selected in your Create New e-Appeal configurations/set up) (in this example, we have selected $500)
- Donor is taken to the special e-Appeals donation portal page. The only information asked for is information not already in the system.
- The donor can specify if this is a tribute gift. If they opt to make this a tribute gift, they will be asked for the name of the Tributee (there is no option to specify a tribute card recipient in the online portal. Keep in mind that while donors can specify a tribute card recipient via your website, no information is collected beyond tribute card recipient's name (no contact info for the tribute card recipient is collected so if the person is not already in your database there is no ability to send a tribute card).
- Next, donor enters their credit card information. They can select to use the credit card on file in your CRM (if they have one) or to enter a new credit card.
- Please Note: when donor is entering a new credit card, the expiration date, CVV code, and donor's billing address ZIP CODE are required. The zip code field does not display until the donor has typed in the credit card number.
- The donor can opt to make this a recurring donation by selecting the check box. The donor will then be able to specify the frequency of the recurring donation and for how long/how many payments.
- Finally, the donor clicks the Donate Now button.
- They are provided with a confirmation screen.
- Donor receives your email (with content customized by you/from your e-Appeals template.
- Inside your CRM, you will see the donation as normal as you would any donation entered online or via direct entry/by staff directly into the system (on contact's record in the Giving Details and Financial Details widgets, in the Gifts Index Screen, in Invoices, and on the Financials Page). On the Gifts Index page and on the View Contact: Giving Details, you will see an additional notation that this gift came in via e-Appeals under the donation/fund name.
